Youth – Can Programme At Rotary Nagar
“YOUTH – CAN”, youth wing of CAN – STOP organized an awareness programme in recognition of World No Tobacco Day at Rotary Nagar, Triplicane on May 29, 2011 between 4 – 5.30 pm.

The programme is unique because local community children and teenagers were involved to spread the message across their own community. Drawing and poster competitions were conducted for children and teenagers respectively. Oration was conducted on the topic “Hazards of smoking” in Tamil and English.

Skit enacted by the children was a great success, as it enabled the spectators to realize the health consequence of tobacco usage along with its social impact. Three different group dances performed by the children were a visual treat to the audience. Each participant was given a T-Shirt imprinted with the words “Free the world from tobacco” and the words “quit smoking” at the back side, tiffin box and a certificate.

Rotarian S. Gunashekar, President Rotary Club of Madras (2011 –2012) honored the programme along with few other Rotarians honored the programme and distributed the prizes to the participants and winners.
