All a Bout Cancer

ABC 2006

The highlights of this exhibition include stalls on Women's cancer, Liver, Stomach & Colon cancer, Brain, Prostate & Lung Cancer, Oral cancer and Tobacco facts, Blood cancer, Cancer Prevention and medicine, Palliative Care, Counselling, Diet & Nutrition. Highly competent target group members will man all the stalls. All the stalls display information on cancer, diet and nutrition with special emphasis on aspects to healthy living. At the same time a number of seminars will also be conducted.

Can Stop organized a two day ABC [All a Bout Cancer] exhibition on August 5th and 6th at Agarwal Vidayalaya Mat. Hr. Sec. School. This program aimed at school students helped in creating awareness and providing information on basic cancer facts, hazards of smoking, usage of pan Masala and tobacco chewing by their stall presentations and participation in various events. The events organised were Oration, Debate, Slogan Writing and Painting Competition. The chief guests, Mrs. Valli Alagappan and Principal of Agarwal Vidyalaya, lighted the kuthuvilakku, inaugurated the exhibition and shared their views. Dr. Vijaya Bharathi Rangarajan explained about the RAY OF HOPE BANNER to the audience and involved everyone towards providing unique positive attitude, hope and prayer for the cancer affected patients, through their participation of placing their hand print on the banner. Debate competition on Smoking should be banned in working places Vs Smoking should not be banned in working places was conducted. Out of 30 students 5 students on each side debated For and Against. Vijay Kumar from Kola Perumal Hr. Sec. School was the Best Speaker. More than 50 students participated in the Slogan Writing Competition on Anti Tobacco. 6 best slogans were selected. Painting competition on Anti Tobacco was organized. Out of 65 students, 6 got prizes and 2 paintings got prizes for their EFFORTS. The childrens stalls impressed the judges with the information collected and their spontaneity in answering the questions. The chief guests were Judge Ms. Prabha Sridevan, High Court Judge, Ms. Linda Actress, Dr. Nalini Krishnan, Founder of REACH. The judges for the various events were: Dr. Swamikannu, Emergency Medicine, Dr. V.B. Narayana Murthy Plastic Surgeon, SMF. Ms.Rani Chadda, Ms. R. Swapna, Ms. Urmilla, Ms. Sadhana & Ms. Ranjani and Mr. Ilango, Mr. Raghunathan Can Stop Volunteers.
