      Camp He..Ho.. Ha.. (Health, Hope and Happiness) is a two day residential programme for cancer survivors and their families.


      The camp comprises of diverse recreational activities for children and input sessions for parents. Pot painting, paper mash, origami, bullock cart riding, snake and ladder games etc are organized for children. The input sessions are scheduled to address the medical and psychological issues of parenting and providing quality health care to the ailing child.


      The children and their families take back warm memories of time shared, new activities with new friends along with important aspects of dealing with cancer.


      “Camp He..Ho..Ha..” has been successfully organized for the last 7 years and the 8th year camp is scheduled in the month of February 2015.

    • Awareness & Screening Camp

      “Prevention is always better than cure”. CAN-STOP offers free awareness and screening programmes on oral cancer, Breast and Cervical cancer.


       Exclusive programme is designed for women self help groups to raise awareness on Breast and Cervical Cancer.


      The high risk groups likes autorickshaw drivers, bus drivers and conductors, truck drivers are given one to one counseling to quit tobacco. Regular follow ups and free treatment is also offered at Sundaram Medical Foundation.
      Free awareness and screening programmes are also organized at Industries and Corporates on request.

      Volunteers and Socialworkers make regular visits to Government hospital and distribute Pediasure to the children at Institute of Child Health. 


      Tender coconut water is given to the cancer afflicted women at Government Women’s Hospital, Egmore, once in a week.

    • Resource Center

      Resource center serves as a recreation place and meeting point for cancer survivors and their families to share, care and learn. The sharing of experiences amongst families undergoing similar situation really helps the other members in the support group to gain strength and confidence.
      Resource centre is open on all Saturdays between 10 and 5 pm.
      CAN-STOP Resource centre is located at 20A, D’Silva Road, Mylapore.

    • Play Therapy and Art therapy

      An exclusive play therapy room is set up for kids. Games, puzzles, coloring books and education charts are enjoyed by the children.


      Volunteers spend two – three hours with the children in the hospital and engage them in different activities like puppet shows, story telling sessions etc. Monthly once an entertainment programme like magic show, mimicry is organized by volunteers and student groups for fun.


      Art therapy is also organized by socialworkers.

    • Youth Can Awareness

      YOUTH – CAN  is  the Youth Wing of CAN-STOP involving youngsters . YOUTH – CAN Awareness Walk is organized in the month of February to Commemorate World Cancer Day.


      Recently, Youth- CAN Awareness Walk was organized at IIT, Chennai. More than 2000 of them participated in the Walk.

      Love Cures People – both the ones who give it and the ones who receive it.

      Cancer children with good prognosis (those identified by the doctor to have a good chance of recovery) from the lower socio-economic back ground are selected under this scheme, and a sponsor is found to help with the expenses for their medications and diagnostic services.


      The sponsor is continuously updated with the status and his/her treatment prognosis to ensure transparency. Your sponsorship towards the Sponsor – A- Child Programme will bring a joy in a child’s face. Together We CAN make a difference.

      To commemorate “International Childhood Cancer day” in the month of February, CAN-STOP organizes CAN-SWAP (Cancer Survivors workshop for Adolescent Pediatrics), a one day workshop for cancer survivors.


      The programme aims at enhancing the quality of life of the cancer survivors and their families. Renowned Pediatric Hematologist/ Oncologist, Endocrinologist and Psychologist are invited as Guest Speakers.


       Around 30 to 35 Cancer survivors along with their parents are attending the session every year.

      Counselling is designed to help cancer patients and their families respond to challenges and the associated emotions in healthy ways. Individual and group counseling are offered by trained volunteers and social workers.


      Socialworkers specialize in connecting patients with community resources and providing practical assistance like connecting with blood bank, arranging medicines and job assistance for those requiring it.

      “One Walk One Hope” – An annual event is a flagship programme of CAN-STOP organized in the month of October to commemorate the pink ribbon day, involving the general public from all walks of life. The public awareness on a massive scale focuses on the importance of mammogram and early detection of breast cancer.

      September 22nd, Rose Day is a special day for remembering and sharing a cancer patient’s trauma.
      On this special day, CAN-STOP along with its volunteers visit cancer patients and gift them a rose to show our love, care and concern, along with toiletry items for the patients in government hospitals.


      Awareness programmes are also organized in schools and colleges to sensitize children and life style modification, importance of regular General health checkup and screening for different types of Cancer.

    • World No Tobacco Day

      CAN-STOP being a strong advocate for anti-tobacco campaigns conducts various awareness programmes across the city for different groups. Free oral screening programme is also conducted for men i.e., Auto rickshaw drivers, Bus Drivers and Conductors, Truck drivers. In addition to oral screening, awareness is given to quit the nicotine habit. On May 31st, the World No Tobacco Day, a major Human Chain or an Awareness walk is organized in line with the WHO Theme.

      Cancer drugs are expensive. Supply of drugs for those who cannot afford them is a priority. Can - Stop’s Drug Bank is a corpus fund to provide cancer drugs to the needy. ‘CAN - STOP’ provides drugs to those children, whenever necessary, on a referral basis.

      Can-Stop helps people in need of blood, during emergencies. Patients from ICH get in touch with the social workers, who in turn arrange blood from Sundaram Medical Foundation staffs who are willing to donate or we get support through online Blood Donors, “Friends to support network”.

      CANNEST is a new initiatives of CANSTOP. It is a free short stay home for paediatric cancer patients and their caregivers.
      "To provide a comfortable HOME AWAY FROM HOME for families who travel outside of Chennai city to receive and need to comply with regular oncology treatment requirements"
      CAN-STOP offers cancer patients and their caregivers a free Boarding and lodging when their best hope is for effective treatment. Not having to worry about where to stay or how to pay for lodging allows patients and their caregivers to focus on getting well. CANSTOP NEST provides a nurturing, home-like environment where guests can rest and connect with others with similar experience. The home aims to offer a variety of resources and information about cancer and how best to fight the disease.
